It’s Slampy

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

I have wanted to expand into lamps for a few years now. Unfortunately I have not taken the time to take some of the concepts I have on paper and make them happen until now. This is the fist of many in custom lighting that I will be creating. For my fist attempt I am very pleased with the results and feed back.

The concept comes from my wanting to have a solid structure in the center and then have a suspended pattern follow the center without touching. This is what I came up with, I call it “Slampy.” It started with a large rectangular 3/16″ base and 1″ tubing bent in a shape of my desire. I would like to thank Great Lakes Weld Design for their help in bending the tubing. I then followed the contour of the tube with a ring size I liked carefully spacing the rings to achieve a consistent flow. Topped off with a really cool mica lamp shade.
